Welcome to the Logan Elementary School Library Page. Logan Elementary School serves grades PK-5 and is located in El Paso Texas. The original school was built in the 1960s. Logan elementary school was just recently rebuilt, and in the fall of 2014 opened the doors, to the new school, and a brand new library.

Books are checked out for two weeks.
PlayAways and Audio books are checked out for one week.
Parents can check out up to 5 books with their student. For example, if the student has one book checked out, the parent can check out four more.
Books checked out during library visits in first, and second grade will remain in the classroom.Other grades may choose to keep the books in the classroom, at teacher's discretion.

Author Visit:

On Thursday, October 29th Donna Munoz author of Harley Farley's First Halloween, came to visit the 2nd grade. She gave a wonderful presentation and we were very lucky to have her.

Origami every Tuesday morning at 7:45 in September.
Everyday in September enjoy the Riddle of the Day, posted outside the library by the book drop.

Research shows that reading aloud to your child is the number one indicator of how well your child will read; this website includes information and tips about reading aloud.

The 2X2 Committee‘s charge is to produce a list of 20 recommended books for children, age two to grade two.

Hedgehog Books
Experienced teachers have organized lists of great read aloud books for children from pre-K to 8th grade.

ALSC Notable Books
Each year a committee of the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) identifies the best of the best in children's books. According to the Notables Criteria, "notable" is defined as: Worthy of note or notice, important, distinguished, or outstanding. As applied to children's books, notable should be thought to include books of especially commendable quality, books that exhibit venturesome creativity, and books of fiction, information, poetry and pictures for all age levels (birth through age 14) that reflect and encourage children's interests in exemplary ways. Books that win the Newbery and Caldecott Awards are automatically included in this list.

Monster Librarian
This website for children 12 and younger recommend scary stories for children to read.

S.T.E.M Booklist for Kids and Teens
This website lists books that focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math for middle and high school students.

YALSA Booklists & Book Awards
The Young Adult Library Services Association provides a one-stop shop for information and suggestions about your teen and reading. This website includes teen award winners and books that teens will love. This website is geared towards children.

Accelerated Reader (AR):

AR is a new program here at Logan. I would be happy to assist in finding a book that is AR, and reading level appropriate. Testing is done in in the classroom on the iPads or in the computer lab. If you have any questions you are welcome to ask me, or the literacy coach Ms. Guzman.

New Items:

New books, are located on the display by the Graphic Novels, feel free to browse what we have and perhaps check them out. 

The library holds audio books in PlayAway and CD format.  This can be checked out for a week at a time.
